Default My stats; anyone else keep them?

Ok, went over my sent to list (separate from my addresses); just a
list of names in red (RTS) Green (Successes) and black (no response)

Here's the stats folks and it's not pretty.

August 1st-September 30th 2006 requests:

Total sent out: 70
RTS: 3 4% RTS rate but still early
Successes: 8 11% success rate but still early to tell
Still out the 59 84% still out there (FINGERS CROSSED)

To be sent first week October 2006: 15
Then I'll start researching Star Wars again.

Jan 1st 2006-August 30th, 2006 sent out 90 so grand total 160 so far.
I hope to bring it to 200 before the end of the year. This is about
1/4 of years past what I was sending out.

Jan -Aug successes 32 totaling 20 percent success rate. NOT good.
Lowest in years. RTS's: 8 totaling 5% leaving 75% of my letters
UNANSWERED.

Is it time to throw it in? I am thinking I will quit the hobby by
Christmas/Dec 31st. Thinking of taking the money I usually spend on
the hobby to play the stock market and see how well I do there; and
see which one is more worth it! If I say in, I will probably lower my
requests even more. We'll see how I feel by the end of the year.

84.2, 11.4 and 4.3 make up the other 1% missing if anyone adds and say
hey, that's only 99%

by keeping tabs this way...aren't you really setting yourself up to
fail? do you really expect your percentages to be high?
no offense, but in this day and age, it should be far below your
expectations ...

I was in the mid 60% for a year, then it goes down a few percentage
points each year. It's a good track of what is happening in this
hobby. It's really not any different than keeping stats on other
things like RBI's in baseball to determine if a player is good.

By doing this, we can see a problem happening and can go back in time
to see how it's been declining and why.

Once you have that, you can start by working on how to fix it.

By not keeping track, it's even worse. At least I know about what
time and expense is going into it (I am not keeping track of those but
can probably estimate) and decide if it's worth it or not. Right now,
I am doing less and less and less each year. Plan is to go with the
flow and ease my way out of it.

i think you can make assumptions on to how it's gone down...but i don't
think you'll ever truly know WHY it's gone down...just that it does...
using your analogy, you can't pinpoint a hole in a player's swing, or
that people pitch differently every year...just as you really can't
figure out why people stop signing...they just do.
i wasn't looking to pick a fight. i'm just saying, but doing a numbers
analysis and all that, doesn't it take the fun out of it?
