With the addition of a MS62 1948 Canada Dollar, my set of Canadian silver
dollars (1935-1967) is complete. Only took me about 30 years! |

Good job!
I kinda put my set of Canadian dollars on hold a number of years ago. Now I'll have to go back and see which ones I'm missing. -- Richard http://coins.richlh.com/MyCoinLinks.htm http://www.richlh.com Don't lament that the rose bush has thorns. But I also buy from some selected dealers in USA and Canada. Shipping cost is killing me;-) And of course I buy from the US Mint with which I am in trouble lately since they are asking me to pay for goods I never received!!! I've answered them through e-mail (yessss! I have their e-mail;-)) and after about one month I received a second letter stating that it was their second notification since they...never received an answer from me!!! They are threatening me now with a...debt collecting company;-) PS And to make it even more difficult (and costly), I am collecting the silver Canadian dollars raw (http://s208.photobucket.com/albums/b...w%201935-1969/) and...slabed (http://s208.photobucket.com/albums/b...%201935-1969/)!!! So practically I have two collections of silver Canadian dollars. -- E' mai possibile, oh porco di un cane, che le avventure in codesto reame debban risolversi tutte con grandi puttane! ... "Proof like" is not a term used by the RCM. The coins were marketed by the RCM as uncirculated examples. Thanks. I thought I had seen the 1967 Unc set advertised as "proof-like" so I thought maybe this was an official mint term for specially struck examples. There were 3 versions of 1967 sets released by the RCM. The pliofilm packaged uncirculated set or "proof-like" set. The cased set with a silver medallion, also "proof-like". The cased set with the $20 gold coin, in "specimen quality". The term "proof-like" was coined in 1954 by J.E. Charlton. It is widely used by collectors to describe the coins that the RCM's Numismatic Section was striking with special care to be released in sets or, for the dollars, individual specimens. Both the Charlton and the Haxby catalogs can provide you with much more information. |
