Default The " Nine US Coins; Guess The Face Value" CONTEST

Time for another contest. Gary Loveless (last year's Saint Pool winner) and I
(retired Saint Pool Guru) are going to run a "joint contest." The scenario:

Gary has nine coins to offer as a prize. All you have to do is guess the total
face value (NOT the numismatic value). Here are some hints:

1. There ARE duplicates of the face value of some coins.
2. There are NO gold coins.
3. They are worth MORE than 9¢ US.
4. They are worth LESS than $9 US.

The rules:

1. Contest begins immediately.
2. One entry per person, please.
3. First entry with the correct amount wins.
4. If no entry hits the exact amount by 12:01 AM, October 1 (that's one minute
after midnight EDT), Price is Right rules will apply. Even though the first
exact entry will win, duplicate incorrect entries are possible. Those will
follow the "throw them in a hat" procedure to determine the tie breaker.

Finally, there is a surprise consolation prize to be offered once the contest
is over. Nothing really spectacular, but it's fun, just the same.

Please post all entries here on the NG. Contest is open to ALL regulars and
lurkers, US and world-wide.
