Exclamation Help with Rock-Ola 473

Hello,
we are three guys who are currently working on a Rock-Ola Jukebox (number 473) in school. We have never done this before.
Everything is working fine, except the arm that changes the record.
It works when it puts down the record, but when it tries to bring it back it makes a twitching motion upwards and fails to grab the record.

What can we do to prevent this from happening?

Please help us!

You merely need to clean and lubricate the gripper and trunion assembly (the arm that grabs the record and the mechanism at its base). Note that the gripping action is spring actuated, whereas the release action is gear driven. When the record is selected from the magazine, it has more time/distance to engage the record edges. As it removes it from the turntable, that time/distance ratio is decreased and it misses the edges of the record.

Ideally, you would remove, disassemble, clean, and re-lubricate all the moving parts. However, most people soak the thing down with WD-40 and operate it until it works decently. Depending on your mechanical ability, you can choose which way you want to proceed. Let me know if you want to do the teardown and I will get you some more info.

Respectfully,

David
