Value of 5 dollar bill w/ red print???
I was given a $5.00 bill today and found it very unusual. I dont know
nothing about older money or rare monies so if anyone can help, I'll appreciate it alot. It is dated series 1963, red serial numbers, and red seal. Serial # is A51421922A and the 2 signers is: Kathryn O'Hay (cant make out the last name, but ends in shan) and C. Douglas Dillan . It is in good condiction, no rips or tears. Should i keep it or spend it as any other $5.00 bill. Thanks a bunch. |

Its value is about $6 or $7, probably worth keeping as a conversation piece.
During the '60's and earlier, $5 bills could be found in three types: United States Notes (red serial numbers), Silver Certificates (blue serial numbers), and Federal Reserve Notes (green serial numbers, as today). The notes looked very similar to each other, and at the time they were all accepted as "nornal." (Lisa) wrote: I was given a $5.00 bill today and found it very unusual.
