I happen to have a different book club edition of the _Jungle Books_
from the early 60s (I think it was a Christmas present from an aunt).
All of the Mowgli stories were in volume 1; all the other stories were
in volume 2* - illustrations by one Aldren Watson.

*it is my understanding that each volume of the original _Jungle Books_
was mixed Mowgli and non-Mowgli.

That is correct. The online text of the contents of the original 1894/1895

The Mowgli stories are the first three stories of the first volume and the
first, third, fifth, seventh and eigth of the second volume, unlike the
layout in the "rare" book club edition mentioned in the original spam.
