Default STD4 blinking lights dont blink question

I had removed the small chassis that contains the light blinking circuit
I replaced a bad capacitor and totally cleaned up the whole thing and
tested transistors .
It still keeps the lights on all the time . When i turn the sequence
speed pot i can see a very slight change in brightness of bulbs .
A few bulbs are burned out . Would that stop the blinking ?

Thanks

I don't have access to the circuit, but symptoms like that (speed pot
varying brightness) sounds to me like the thing is oscillating at an
extremely high speed, so fast that the lights are still blinking, but
so fast that to the human eye they appear to be constantly on. I
would double check the value of the capacitor that you replaced and
make sure you didnt put one in of a lower value. (or put new one in
the wrong way etc)

Thanks guys !!!!

My eyes are not as good as they used to be . I got out the reading
glasses and a small flashlight and found a broken foil on one lead of
the big filter capacitor . Some soldering fixed the problem .
