Tech: Seeburg 160 help
Hallo!
My girlfriend's grandparents had a Seeburg 160 jukebox. It had not been used for many years. Now I decided to get it playing again. But someone had taken out the parts cut some wires and so on. There even lived some mice inside :-( I now connected every wire where I think it needs to be placed and the juke box powers up. All neon light are on and the amplifier tubes glow and if I put in some old german coins it allows selecting the record. It begins spining up but the "record player unit" doesn't move to pick up the record - it simply stays where it is and doesn't move to the right or left. Now my questions: Anyone any idea where to look at? How do I remove the "record player unit" from the track of the mashine? If anyone has any schemtics or trouble shooting guide could you please send it as a copy? If you are interested inn some pictures of the jukebox - inside views, etc. I can put some pics on my website. The only thing I found on the web was the schematic of the amplifier at http://www.babyboardrent.nl/~leonb/jjukeschem/DS160.pdf Thanks in advance for your help! Regards, Andreas Weller |

I think you need to get the service manual and figure out the circuit for
the motor scan. First I would check to see if the motor runs by applying voltage directly to the motor. Since you are apparently in Europe be sure that you are only applyinbg 110VAC and not your native voltage. You can get the manual from a number of sources. Put a post on here for Charlie Meier and he can get one for you. Jim "Andreas Weller" wrote in message ... Hallo! My girlfriend's grandparents had a Seeburg 160 jukebox. You should get the manual but this might help if you have worked on
Seeburg's before. The safety lever on the mech is probably frozen. When this happen's the mech turn table will turn and you could even play a record. The mech will never move from that spot, it would repeat the record over and over. You need to disaysemble some of the mech, knock the pin out and clean. That is the short of it but maybe order, Harold Hagen's Seeburg troubleshooting book. It show's you what to do. Good luck. |
