Self-Adhesive problems already?
Just as the 37c rate increase went into effect in the U.S. I bought a
number of sheets of the soon to be obsolete 34c stamps. One sheet has become a problem. This is the 34c "Mentoring A Child" stamp. This was issued in 2001. The stamps I have have become difficult to peel off the backing and also takes some extra effort to make them stick properly. No other self-adhesives seem to be affected this way. Could this be a problem with just this issue or an indication of things to come for all self-adhesive stamps? Dave (collecting only used, but has to use them for postage) |

I can't really answer your question, Dave, but that stamp was known to be
extremely difficult to soak, so probably a different formula was used for that stamp than for most recent self-adhesives. Whatever it was, let's be glad it doesn't seem to have become the standard adhesive! Ada "Dave" wrote in message ... Dave (collecting only used, but has to use them for postage) We have had a few letter return to us as unstamped - the culprit is those Canadian astronaut issues. Also hard to remove and peel off the envelope after a day or so. I am planning on complaining to Canada Post. I wouldn't have bought self-stick but my wife picked them up - at least I have her trained not to buy definitives! Frank |
