Default Self-Adhesive problems already?

Just as the 37c rate increase went into effect in the U.S. I bought a
number of sheets of the soon to be obsolete 34c stamps.
One sheet has become a problem. This is the 34c "Mentoring A Child"
stamp. This was issued in 2001. The stamps I have have become difficult to
peel off the backing and also takes some extra effort to make them stick
properly. No other self-adhesives seem to be affected this way. Could this
be a problem with just this issue or an indication of things to come for all
self-adhesive stamps?
Dave (collecting only used, but has to use them for postage)

I can't really answer your question, Dave, but that stamp was known to be
extremely difficult to soak, so probably a different formula was used for
that stamp than for most recent self-adhesives. Whatever it was, let's be
glad it doesn't seem to have become the standard adhesive!

We have had a few letter return to us as unstamped - the culprit is those
Canadian astronaut issues. Also hard to remove and peel off the envelope
after a day or so. I am planning on complaining to Canada Post. I wouldn't
have bought self-stick but my wife picked them up - at least I have her
trained not to buy definitives!
