Default Which Copy to Keep on the Shelf

I have two copies of a book - Bartholomew Gill, Death of a Joyce Scholar
(Morrow, 1989), and am in need of shelf space. Which is the more
collectible? (I know, we are not talking about a book in big demand.)

1. A first printing, ex-library, with fewer markings than normal, with
a VG to Fine dust jacket, but there are condition problems. The spine is
broken at page 130. I can in all likelihood reglue the web to the spine
to fix this problem, but have not yet done so. Toward the end of the
book, four sheets (8 pages) have come loose. Again, with a small amount
of glue I can probably get them back where they belong. The edges of the
pages are slightly dirty (definitely not as white as the edges of Copy
#2).
2. A second printing. Dust jacket fine. Condition of the book: Fine.
No noticeable defects. As mentioned above, the edges of the pages are
white and the book may be unread.
I suppose it comes down to this. How much does the condition of a first
printing have to be deteriorated before the first printing is worth less
than a second printing ?

I'd keep the second on the shelf (where it looks nice), carefully
repair the first...and store it for the future. You never know.
