Burning Stamp Collections - Proper?
A friend who is a long time collector now getting ready
to pass on, has mentioned that sooner than give his good collections for ridiculously low percentages of catalogue to unscrupulous dealers, that he would sooner burn up the albums. He said that his sons have no interest in stamps, since they are now involved with new families. He has found no worthwhile charities to which he is willing to bequeath his extensive estate. Consequently, he feels, that rather than enriching crooked dealers and auctioneers, at least he will get the satisfaction of knowing that they will never get HIS material for them to make huge profits. He says that he will be burning one album a week, until all is gone. Comments and advice invited, both pro and con. |
