Hunting in decline in US

Despite nut cases like Charlie Nudo, hunting as a pastime is on the
decline in the US, according to a story in this week's issue of
Newsweek. Statistics show hunting license issuance, both new and
renewal, are in decline everywhere, with California, Washington, New
England, and even Nevada and Texas leading the charge. The only
places where hunting is on the increase are the "nut job" states, like
Montana, the Dakotas, and, of course, the rest of the South.

Licensed hunters have decreased from just over 16 million in 1980 to
around 14.5 million now, and the trend is accelerating downward. Along
with this, the lack of new interest in hunting is also starting a
downward spiral in revenue for one of the formerly most potent
lobbying and political king making organizations in the country, the
NRA, which is also seeing a decline in membership.

With whackos like Charlie Nudo spraying his distorted, schizophrenic
view of hunting laws, the trend away from hunting will continue to
decline, just like the idea of right wingerism declined sharply after
all the fruitcakes behind that movement had the light of day shown on
them.
