Winery Stamps

Westons Winery, of 25 Forrestbank Avenue, Wakari, Dunedin, New Zealand, have
come up with an interesting "wine post", (complete with stamps) to promote
their products.

The well designed "stamps" are used on postings made through international
carriers, on local deliveries and are sold as souvenirs to tourists visiting
the winery. Where attached to mail sent by courier they are cancelled with a
special WESTONS WINERY postmark.

The first issue was a $1 stamp released on December 8, 1990 and incorporated
the winery symbol of a mariner guiding a mythical bird. The stamps had the
inscription WESTON POSTAGE 1 Dollar, and were printed in sheets of 24,
(perforated) and also in mini sheets of six

Goodness gracious me, Blair.
How do you do that?
I am turning over the chairmanship of "Honorary Cinderella keeper" to your
good self.

Marvellous records, a keeper,
however, personally, "Weston's" for me will always be represented
by a double sweet biscuit sandwich, with creamy marshmallow centre, dipped
in chocolate,
"Weston's Wagon Wheels" were / are a favourite of mine.

A new word for the Philatelic Lexicon? ......"wettable gum"

BTW Anton's wine stamp label originates from the very respectable "Hardy's
wines"
Sir James Hardy (Thom Hardy's son) unsuccessfully challenged the America's
Cup of yachting
on 3 occasions.

I suppose that something strange happened with that wine. Can only hope that
Anton got the original one.

I have in front of me a bottle of another Australian wine, in the same price
range as Anton's, bought here in Switzerland. It is a Crimson's Chardonnay
Australia, 2006. No Australian stamps on this one but it is excellent,
