Well of course it's worth "a fraction" of that amount, a small to
middlin fraction perhaps, but a fraction nonetheless.
There seems to be a bit of discrepancy about the state of the jacket -
perhaps a 2nd state - which detracts from the value, as does its
condition.
Nevertheless the book as presented is worth a low 4 figure amount, IMO.

Would appear to be a classic shill set up, based on the facts you
presented.
Too bad as the seller could easily have gotten a decent price for it
without the shills.
A nice copy of the same title/edition sold for over $7000 a few years
back and I'm fairly sure that auction was legit.
A true FE of "While The Clock Ticked" is the most highly sought
edition among Hardy Boys fans (or should I say speculators?)
