Jefferson dollars will be available on August 16 at your local bank.

The Thomas Jefferson $1 Coin, the third coin in the Presidential $1
Coin Program, will be available for special order beginning August 2.
The Thomas Jefferson $1 Coin will be released to the public on August
16, 2007. Depository institutions (DIs) can continue ordering unmixed
quantities of the coin from the Federal Reserve Banks until September
13, 2007.

NONE of the local banks carry them here. I'm always told to check
another bank, or another branch (at least by the tellers that even
know what they are), but I have yet to find a mint sealed roll. The
circulated ones I do have in a jar I acquired from various customer
service desks around town. I even got an Ike that way, so people ARE
using the metal dollars. I would imagine the postal machines are live
with them too, but I haven't checked. They tarnish FAST.

Thing is, I'd like to have a few rolls of these presidential dollars
just for the novelty, because I don't think they'll complete the
series, but Robert Chambers will be managing a McDonald's before I pay
more than $25 for one.
