Interesting Wheat cent
Hello all
I just finished looking at my 5000 wheat cents and found 2 interesting coins. I can't find any info on these and am hoping that some one may be able to help identify them. 1st is a 1955 penny with doubling in the last 5. The interesting part is on Lincoln's forehead it looks like he was scalped and had it placed back on. Also there is what looks like a raised scar on his cheek under his eye and the motto is very heavy and looks slightly doubled and the I in Liberty looks fat and offset. 2nd is a 1944 cent that has a half moon shaped stamped inside the rim on Lincoln running thru the date which looks like there is an S mint mark stamped into the last 4 in the date. Both are from the Philadelphia mint. I don't have a way to photograph the coins at this time. Any help or resources to identify these coins is greatly appreciated. Greg Shilts Learning about mint errors is becoming interesting. |
