Cents found in the till...
Last night I found a '55 and a '56. I gave the 5'6 away to the employee who
could guess the year the closest. The kid guessed '55. I kept the '55 to look at better. Today, counting the till at 4:00 found a 1908 small cent. It's in better shape than the '55! Not a bad holiday weekend, only 2 people called in sick and I found a cool coin. mk |

My first thought was to drop it back into the register (I should have) but then I decided to pocket the coin. Twelve hours later I found a 1936-D buffalo nickel on the parking lot that looked exactly like the one I had seen earlier. Same nickel; found, lost and found again. Bill |

Do you think someone threw it away because they thought it was a slug or foreign coin or something, not a nickel? Paul -- Paul Anderson OpenVMS Engineering Hewlett-Packard Company |

Paul Well, my first thought was that the coin had been handed out in change and the new owner had tossed the nickel for the exact reason you give. However, I then remembered that I had pocketed the nickel so the only explanation is that I had pulled the coin out of my pocket when reaching for my car keys. So, I found it in the register and unknowingly lost it on the parking lot but refound it before anyone else did. Bill |

As far as coin finds go, I have found my third 1919 Lincoln cent in the last 4 or 5 days. All are nice looking coins in VG+ to VF. I spotted two coming out of two different bank rolls and the third was given back to me as part of my change today from the Dollar General. All are now in my possession so I know there are three distinct coins. Bill |
