SOTW (Stamps of the world) have a new policy Chris,
of including Minisheets, I shall give them the benefit of the doubt
with these Russian, as perhaps they were in the middle of cataloguing.

My 2005 does have some Minisheets listed, but not all,
some countries have listings of all stamps to 1996 which is a real puzzler.

SOTW is Newspeak for "Simplified" which AFAIK has never included
miniature sheets -- you have to go to the more specialised cats for
these, although sometimes you can work out what they are by gaps in
the sequence.

I seem to remember reading that SG numbers can differ
between FOTW and P{art I, II etc... Can anyone confirm?

Also, numbers can change from year to year.

Blair

The most common changes are between the numbers given with new issue
announcements in Gibbons Stamp Monthly, and when they finally appear
in catalogues, having found some intervening issues.

They do change earlier ones, but only rarely -- it must cause them
major headaches if someone orders from an old cat. Each edition of the
specialised cats ("Parts", now single-country) has a section on number
changes and deletions of stamps that they decide never really existed.

But having said "rarely" I do vaguely remember having been annoyed by
some major renumberings just after writing numbers into my album :-(

Chris

An example from SOTW with minisheets,

I have checked non commonwealth countries, and they are consistent
Spain has minisheets listed.
Russia is missing very many minisheets, however.

I watched a film the other evening, about Czechs who fought for the allies
and subsequent to war's end, were imprisoned by the Communist regime.
Some people have endured such a tough life.

This is an USSR stamp, that commemorates 40 years passed since the so
called Great October Socialist Revolution. The stamp is dedicated to the
occupied Latvia, renamed and integrated as the Latvian Soviet Socialist
Republic. Victor Manta

A big thank you to all who assisted

I am quite ready to accept I do suffer from catalogue blindness, on
occaisions,
however only 1 qualifies here.

The 3 minisheets are not in my 2005 SOTW colour catalogue,
I submit the following as proof of my objection.

It is a Library discard catalogue, not sure if that is why,
or God is punishing me for a misdemeanor in a past life.

rodney.

BTW I think my early MS is on glossy paper, quite a find!

Just a short note, Sir Rodney,

in my old Michel Eastern Europe of 1998/1999 for Soviet Union are listed
the numbers 2862 up to 3011, so there were issued 49 different stamps in
this year, including sheet # 33, 34, 35,, 36, 37 .

all the best

Gerhard

Good morning Gerhard,
please forgive, I do not understand you.
My SOTW has 141 issues for 1964.

You must mean 149!

Too many glasses of schnapps?
