Denmark used ships, trains and buses to carry parcels.

A Bus Parcel Stamp of the Ostjaelland Railway, Denmark

Background: In 1903, a private haulier on the island of Lolland
sensed
the tendencies of the development and procured a vehicle of Maurer
Union brand for the first omnibus route in the country - from
Nykoebing
Falster to Nysted. The route was, however, soon discontinued due to a
bad economy, but the year after bigger plans for a nationwide network
of buses were devised. The postal service was invited to cooperate
about
combining the conveyance of passengers with mail and parcel
transport,
and the following year the postal service jumped on the bandwagon so
to speak, but only on one route from Noerrebro to Slangerup and with
the unwritten purpose of investigating the reliability.

Apparently, it turned out to be acceptable. During the sub-sequent
years
mail transport was set up on other bus routes around the country. The
population could find in-formation about this in the daily newspapers
or
in the Motor magazine which currently announced the establishment
of new mail-carrying routes.

The club was founded in October 1997 for collectors of railway
stamps, steamship stamps and bus stamps. It boasts a

Marvelous Blair, thanks very much,
I especially liked the opinions of Mr. David Beech FRPSL
when identifying so called "Cinderellas" that served with genuine usage,
in comparison of the government sanctioned yet unnecessary "stamps".
A nice "cock the snook" at the philatelic elite.

It still remains a mystery why SG choose to list the Finland bus parcel
stamps
whilst ignoring others, I also learnt that a "parcel" (in GB at least) is
any letter over 1 pound.

Thanks for all the info.
