Default ASPPP Gives Talk On Plating at Americover 2009

Bruce Menia of the American Society for Philatelic Pages and Panels
will speak on "The Plating of Modern Commemoratives" on first day
covers, ceremony programs, souvenir pages and commemorative panels
during Americover 2009.

The three-day show and convention of the American First Day Cover
Society is being held July 31-August 2 at the Holiday Inn in
Boxborough, Mass., not far from historic Lexington and Concord.
Admission and parking is free.

Menia's talk is at 10 a.m. Saturday in the hotel's Board Room.

"It will be a real eye-opener," particularly for members of the AFDCS
and American Ceremony Program Society, says Menia, vice president of
the ASPPP.

Later that day, at 3 p.m., the ASPPP will hold its annual meeting in
the Boxwood Room, and Menia will talk about specializing in specific
areas of souvenir pages.

Altogether, there are about 30 meetings and seminars scheduled during
Americover 2009. Some of the others include the latest news from the
U.S. Postal Service's Stamp Fulfillment Services, selling first day
covers on eBay, first day covers sent to foreign destinations, and
"The Prexies: Common Stamps, Uncommon Usages."

Although an independent philatelic society, the ASPPP is also a
chapter of the AFDCS and often holds meetings and seminars at
Americover. Other societies holding meetings or seminars at Americover
2009 include the American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors, the
American Ceremony Program Society and the Virtual Stamp Club.

Americover 2009's bourse, with more than 30 dealers, will be open 10
a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and until 4 p.m. on Sunday. The
cachetmakers bourse, the largest of its kind held each year, is 5 to 9
p.m. Saturday evening.

Americover 2009 is a World Series of Philately show, and will have 180
frames of competitive exhibits. The Grand Award winner at Americover
will be entered in the Champion of Champions competition at StampShow
2010.
