Buffalo Dollar: ICG MS70 Not Perfect
All MS70's are not created equal, on this coin, apparently ICG overlooks the
fact that there are minor imperfections on the rim. Would PCGS certify a coin with only rim marks as MS70? We think not. Here it is, listed as accurately as I can: http://page.auctions.shopping.yahoo....8?aucview=0x70 Thanks for Looking... PJZ www.dylancoins.com |

Would PCGS certify a coin with only rim marks as MS70? We think not. Here it is, listed as accurately as I can: An ICG 70 Buffalo Dollar will sell for marginally over a raw one, if that. An NGC 70 will sell for about $300.00 to about $350.00. A PCGS 70 will sell somewhere in the neighborhood of $2000.00. Here's my NGC 70. (It's a Proof).. There aren't any rim marks on it. Looks perfect to me. Looked perfect to NGC too. Would PCGS cross it over as a 70? If not, why not.. I just don't feel like throwing $30.00 at them to find out.. http://www.harvlaser.com/files/pics/buff70.jpg One of my PCGS submissions at the Long Beach Show was a modern Unc. Commemorative. I went over it for a long time with a magnifier and a loupe and couldn't find one damn thing wrong with it. I'm waiting to see what they give it. Harv |

I am convinced that the odds of getting a 70 from PCGS are somewhat better for the bulk submitter than for the average guy who submits a single coin. This is just an observation from stories told by others, but they seem to be harder on individual submissions than on bulk submissions. Personally, I have seen very few PCGS 70s of any type. They are just not very common, which probably explains the very high prices for them. Harv |

The first PCGS MS-70 and PF-70 Buffalo Dollars of which I became aware were offered from the inventory of David Hall Rare Coins. I guess he is a 'bulk submitter'. Alan 'inside track' |
