Default Yet Another $1 Bill Redesign Rumor...

I do research on coin and currency issues every once in a while, and
stumbled across this:

http://forum.autocareforum.com/showthread.php?p=12637

Apparently there is a rumor that, even though the U.S. Treasury
website says that the $1 bill will not be redesigned, the rumor says
it will, and the redesigned $1 bills will hit the streets around
Thanksgiving. The person at the top states the $1 bill redesign
issue,
and the one on the bottom of the thread says that, bill readers will
have to be reprogramed or replaced, so I'm guessing he means that the
$1 bill will indeed be redesigned. Unlike the guy in the middle who
claims that the $1 bill will not be redesigned, and only security
features will be added. I don't believe this rumor, but I'm guessing
you guys all know that I hope that this $1 bill redesign rumor is
true.

Any ideas as to whether this is true?

I really don't see a big issue on redesigning the $1 bill, as far as
vending machines go, because, if they can manage to reprogram their
machines to take new (widely circulated) $5 bills, I see no problem
with them programing in new $1, and while they're at it, have the
Treasury prepare to issue, and have vendors program in a new $2 bill
as well.

One idea would be to redesign the $1 bill, and if the vendors do not
want to pay to retool their machines to take new $1 bills, they
should
invest in a dollar coin machine, programed to take redesigned $1
bills
(and possibly future redesigns of the $1, $2 and $5 bills) that can
be
easliy retooled for as long as $1, $2 and $5 bills are around and
will
spit out dollar coins for customers to use in the vending machines,
and put this "dollar coin machine" next to their veing machines, and,
hey, maybe people will realize what hassle those $1 bills are, and
would think that they should have just asked for dollar coins at
their
bank over $1 bills in the first place, to avoid wasting time having
using two vending machines just to get their pop or candy bar, or
whatever.

Tom

P.S. Yeah...Yeah, the same thing repeated all over again. But I only
posted this, because of a rumor of a redesigned $1 bill.

But still, what do you guys think about the dollar coin machine issue
I mentioned, where people might just get annoyed with $1 bills, and
possibly start using dollar coins in the first place instead?
