Default New art stamps: Isamu Noguchi

On 18th May the USPS will issue 5 art stamps featuring the works of the
American sculptor Isamu Noguchi. Born in Los Angeles, and educated at
Columbia University, he became later the pupil of the Romanian born sculptor
Constantin Brancusi and worked in the latter's studio in Paris 1927-1928.
After studies in England, China, and Mexico, he won the national competition
to decorate the Associated Press Building in Rockefeller Center, New York,
with a huge relief sculpture of stainless steel, executed in 1938.

Read more here about the artist and his works, that includes also the Peace
Garden at the UNESCO-building in Paris.

Interesting page.

It is also interesting to note that on the US stamps pane, Isamu Noguchi is
shown facing something that resembles one of the most renown works of his
master Brancusi, named The Infinite Column. It is a part of the
architectural assembly from Targu Jiu, dedicated to the memory of the
soldiers fallen in the First World War.

The pieces of this assembly were, of course, represented on Romanian stamps.
They are shown on my page (one of four dedicated to Brancusi):
