eBay yobbo of the month

Description: Issues related to collecting books of all types. ISSUES RELATED TO COLLECTING BOOKS. Should I interpret that for you? It seems fairly self-evident to me. Sure. Please explain what "But if you go to the bid history, the bidder stated that he/she put in the wrong amount for the bid...and it was retracted. With eBay's policies, both those statements may be "true"...but this is one auction to avoid...except for entertainment purposes" in the context of a single auction of a pile of BCEs has to do with collecting books and why it should be discussed here rather than in, say, alt.marketing.ebay or, since it's so damned amusing, rec.humor. 1.3 What Kind of Posts are Inappropriate? "John R. Yamamoto-Wilson" wrote in message ... Sam wrote: [snip] Please don't feed the trolls. Rather an untoward comment Mr. YW. A troll is "a newsgroup post that is deliberately incorrect, intended to provoke readers; or a person who makes such a post." That certainly was not my intention here. On the contrary, what I was doing was the antithesis of trolling; i.e., I was attempting to direct two misguided individuals - one of whom, Kris Baker, has never authored a single post ever that has had anything to do with book collecting, and the other a "newbie" - to take their discussion of eBay marketing practices such as feedback and bid retraction to an appropriate forum such as one of the many newsfroups devoted to selling on eBay, so that we bibliophiles could get back to our important book discussions. In that regard, I had a bit of a brag I wanted to share with the group regarding my extensive collection of crappy books inscribed by shlocky pop culture icons. Bit of a coup in that department, if I do say so myself. Back in the early 90s I had a brief but passionate affair with Foxy Gwynne, who had at one time been married to the actor Fred Gwynne. She was quite a bit older than I was at the time, but she was in pretty good shape for an old broad, so I didn't mind. Not to mention that if you believe that 'when you sleep with someone you're sleeping with everyone that person has slept with' that means that by banging Foxy I was banging by proxy both Pat Priest (Marilyn) and Yvonne De Carlo (Lily Munster), who had both had affairs with Gwynne during the filming of the Munsters. So anyway, Foxy recently sent me a copy of Israel Regardie's "A Garden of Pomegranates" that Gwynne had received from the late Al Lewis (Grandpa). The book is inscribed "Herman: I hate fruits! Darn! Darn! Darn! Love Al." I find the inscription a tad odd, as I had always assumed that Lewis was a homosexual. Still, I'll treasure it always. |
