Default Bank of the Cape Fear & Bank of Wilmington (North Carolina)

Steven Jewett, IV, officer of the 1850's Bank of Wilmington, North
Carolina, signed it's money; he was my great, great grandfather. Jewett
wed second, Lucy Anna Bradley, daughter of Richard Bradley, Jr. (and
second wife Eliza Claudia Yonge), who signed the early 1800's banknotes
of the Bank of the Cape Fear. Seek to contact any one interested in the
history of those two Wilmington banks and their branchs, and, or
interested in the officers and employees of those banks; and other
early Wilmington banks. Jim Miller, Southport, North Carolina
Post Script: Jewett, from Maine/New Hampture; in 1838, was U.S.
postmaster at then "Smithville", N.C.; now Southport, below Wilmington
on the Cape Fear River. My ancestor, lawyer Edward Hilton, Sr., Esq.,
of Eliot, Maine; was the brother of ship's master Capt. Wm. Hilton,
Jr., who 1663 "purchased" and named the Cape Fear River. Edward's wife,
the widow Mrs. Catherine Shapleigh Treworgye; was the sister of Capt.
Nicholaus Shapleigh who charted the Cape Fear River.

Didn't someone write a book on the history of this
bank a few years ago? Seems I remember reading
about it in Paper Money.

Bank of the Cape Fear Book!

Yes, a good book too; but if memory serves, it did not show all the
denominations and variations within denominations. I'd especially like
to conract anyone who's ancestor was an officer or employee of either
bank. I have a share of the BotCF stock, but it's old, not graphic; not
very interesting. I'd like one of the later, more graphic, circa 1850's
shares.
