Default Cleveland Star Notes

Are the Cleveland Star Notes, series 2003-D1-320,000, really worth what they
are going for on Ebay? I'd like one but am having a hard time justifying
paying so much for a new note.

Thanks in advance for any discussion and/or advice on this issue.

I have stopped paying the exorbitant ebay prices. Private dealers offer
much the same thing for usually cheaper.

Pete:

Considering that block and star collectors are now competing for them,
and the fact that even circulated examples still fetch over 10 times
face...

Even though now with the 2003A's being printed, the waiting game now
begins to see if another run of these 2003 Cleveland stars get printed.
If another run gets printed, there will potentially be a lot of unhappy
people, except that there does exist a small segment of
collectors/dealers (eg First City) who specialize in star notes *by
run*, and this run will always be valuable to them.

This could be a real winner in the future, if no more runs of the
Cleveland star are printed, for those who actually have an example of
them (especially if they find them in the back of a pack (usually
replacing the 9999 and 0000 ending notes)), and more so in CU.

I did actually pay around $40 for mine, including shipping, on eBay a
few months back.

Nicholas
