Default 18 Requirements to be a Democrat

18 Requirements to be a Democrat

1. You have to be against capital punishment,

but support abortion on demand.

2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and
governments create prosperity.

3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding
citizens are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons
technology in the hands of Iran or Chinese and North Korean
communists.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before federal
funding.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by

cyclical
changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms

driving SUV's.

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial,

but being homosexual is natural.

7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack
of federal funding.

8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach
4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those
same kids about sex.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than
actually doing something to earn it.

11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his
own money to make "The Passion of the Christ" for financial gain only.

12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports
certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good
because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.

13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are
too high.

14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem
are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson,

Gen. Robert E. Lee, and Thomas Edison.

15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist,

but racial quotas and set-asides are not.

16. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't
worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people
haven't been in charge.

17. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag
queens and transvestites should be constitutionally protected,

and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

18. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast,

right-wing conspiracy.

Default Repukes abandon electoral power grab in CA

Scared by increasing scrutiny by the press and stunningly low
donations from rich right wing loonies, as well as a potentially
embarrassing lump of funds from a shady "swift boat" non-profit
corporation formed just one day before they made a $175K donation, the
right wingers set upon making California's electoral votes
proportional versus "winner take all" suffered a death knell today
when their two top organizers and fund raisers quit, leaving the
campaign rudderless and far short of the projected goal in voter
signatures.

The initiative would have apportioned California's 55 electoral votes
according to Congressional district rather than all delegates being
assigned to whichever candidate got the most votes in the entire
state. While one could argue that this is a more "democratic" way of
assigning delegates, it only works fairly if ALL states go that route.
Currently, only Maine and Nebraska, two "fly over" states, do this,
with all the rest being "winner take all." The net effect desired by
the organizers of this sham initiative was to give the Republican
candidate in the '08 election about 19 of California's usually
Democratic delegates, thus awarding them a number that roughly would
equal the entire delegation of Ohio. This would give the GOP nominee
an unfair advantage in delegate count, since 47 other state do NOT do
this.

Although they tried to operate mostly in secret, the LA Times and
Sacramento Bee both did some investigative stories regarding this
"stealth" maneuver, which scared away reliable right wing rich donors,
who feared exposure. The "day old corporation" that gave the $175K
refused to divulge the names of the donors to that fund in violation
of Federal and state laws. It is rumored that none other than Karl
Rove and several of the "swift boaters" involved in the "swift
boating" of John Kerry in '04 are behind this sham. It is suspected
by many that a non-stated reason that Rove left the West Wing was to
spend more time working on such "stealth" and "swift boat" operations
to try to steal the White House for the GOP in the '08 election cycle.

Of course, the Republican operatives still involved in the campaign
said in this morning's LA Times that they will "keep the money." How
could we expect anything else from right wing whack jobs like them?

Democratic pols in California said they will continue monitoring the
activities of this group, regardless of their current troubles, noting
that they could be trying a "Freddie Kruger" stealth move, planning to
come back later with more funding from questionable and untraceable
sources, to try to get the measure to qualify for the June ballot.
