Default how to conserve(preserve) $dollar bills

I recieved these bound $1 packets around 1974 from a relative. Can
anyone tell me anything about them?

The outer cover is plain white with a First American National Bank,
Wausau Wisconsin print on it. Also after the First there is a indian
head in a headress symbol. Back in the day when there was Christmas
saving account promotions, I think that this might have been
associated with a similar promotion.

Question I have is these bills have a slight mildew smell. I do i get
rid of that?

I've been holding onto these forever, they're sort of funky.

Thanks

Mike
