Default D.C. bookshops?

Can anyone give me some hints? I'll be in Washington for a weekend
with friends, but expect to have some time when I can be shopping on
my own. I recall that there were some nice shops near Dupont Circle,
but it's been a long time since I was there, and I imagine that (like
in most cities) many have closed.

I'll check Evelyn Leeper's list when I get a chance, but I thought the
denizens of this group might have some favorites they'd be willing to
share...
