"...crack the books and have studied fundamental eletronics"...no
thanks, I did that in junior high school, Noodles. However, you'd do
well to follow your own advice on that subject...even if you can't
write it in French without making an ass out of yourself!

"You slide????" (in formal form, no less?)

Obviously, he means "alors" here...

Au revoir au revoir !

Goodbye, goodbye to you too, Noodles.

Obviously feeding English into a freebie translator isn't giving you
the desired effect, Noodles. I'd love to see your Italian, as well!

Looks like DeserTBob's choice of cassette decks, is worth about $12 on
Ebay

With three belts and an alignment and cleaning, this is one GOOD
cassette deck for the price...and would beat that B-I-C beater simply
because it has onboard bias tailoring.

I've had that 630D since what...'78? The reason I picked up on was
that it was a mid priced 2 head deck that had not only continuously
variable bias current facilities, but also had an onboard 400-10KHz
freq response calibrated oscillator circuit that would get you to flat
(between those two frequencies) R/P response using ANY tape...a
feature only seen on the Nakamichi TriTracer up until that time. Sure,
there were "better" decks (meaning more costly and with more august
transports, etc.) but none had this single facility. I also used the
25 µS Dolby FM input for recording many an FM broadcast off of KFAC
back in those days. Going direct to tape using the 25 µS de-emphasis
curve yielded excellent results using a good CrOx tape. Since I did a
lot of archiving and air checks of classical music performances back
then, using the Onkyo for that duty was very handy, since it also can
be timer controlled through the DIN jack in the back. It also could
produce a dub that any 3 head deck would be happy to play back....most
2 head machines, due to their compromised gaps, would produce dubs
with a top end "hump" in them, due to the gap being too narrow for
optimal recording. Also, the Onkyo's head was NOT the usual cheapie
cylindrical faced thing, but was more like the peaked heads found on
an Ampex or Nakamichi.

All in all, a very competent 2 head deck.
