Default Question ring-sing and grading

OK, I bid and won on the coin below. Afterwards I noticed there is a
nick in the rim above the 'N' on the reverse. I asked for and received
a refund as this was hard to see in the picture and wasn't explained in
the description. The coin is beautiful otherwise and I hoped to have it
graded but I figured the nick was enough to get it pushed back very low
at best, or refused. Should I have kept it? I'm doubting my decision
now...

Thanks for any input.

If you have to convince yourself that a coin is a good deal, it generally
isn't. Every time you looked at that coin your eyes would be drawn to the
defect and dwell on it. Even if you had to spend a bit more on a more
perfect coin, you'd be glad you did.

John,

That gash in the rim is not hard to see on my monitor at all. It
jumped right out at me as soon as I saw the reverse image. I would be
happy to have the coin in an album at about the $50 level but not at
the level it got bid to. I'm glad you got your money back though.

Looks like a HUGE nick above the 'N'. The seller definitely should have
mentioned it and I can see how you missed it when paired with that
background. You did well requesting a refund. Maybe they'll think next time
before listing.

For not too much more money you can get one of those AU58 which would be a
much nicer coin typically.
If it was in a tight 2x2 I'll bet you couldn't even see that mark

Thanks everyone. I feel better now about letting it go. All valid points.

Are the obverse signs of clashed dies that clearly evident on this die
pair? Really nice, to me.
Aram.
