Default Thought on Montblanc

I know that Montblanc is forged more than any other pen. Most people
would not know the difference from the real deal. Could the bad
reputation Montblanc has gotten of late be due to fakes?

The fakes are generally better made, at least in terms of durability.
Usually laquer over brass or plastic rather than "precious resin." I
assume that the 144 is the most commonly faked, since it's a cartridge
filler.

I love the light feel of my 144 stainless steel doue, but I've
already broken the "precious resin" once, and it was it was
like 40 or 50 bucks to fix -- pretty much outrageous. It
was only dropped from about 6 inches too.

The reason I brought this up is I just bought a fake Montblanc
ballpoint from eBay. This is the first fake I got from the auction. I
bought seven Montblanc fountain pens all real and all nice. Even the
broken one I bought for parts. The "precious resin" is soft but it
buffs up nicely to a smooth no scratch finish.

If the precious resin is soft, how on earth does it break so easily?
