Frank, I wish there were an easy solution to this. However, I do not
believe that one person should determine what we read. An innocuous email
from my son could be spam in his opinion; other people want to avail
themselves of some legitimate offer. The number of so-called spam emails is
so huge that no one person can handle it alone.

Thanks for the reply

I don't want to offend anyone but it's mainly these posts making offers
to 'get rich quick' that annoy me. It's a different case if someone is
offering sales even though they be commercial IF they are connected to
paper money.

My ISP has cut the number of SPAM E-Mails I get from around 200 per day
to about 5 or 6 which is pretty good and something of a relief.

I think this is a great group and would not like to see it overrun by
all this rubbish.

Cheers

The problem here in RCPM getting so much money making spam is the word "money"
in the newsgroup name. The spammers go nuts thinking a paper money collectors
newsgroup is exactly what they're looking for.

RCPM isn't the only one getting spammed, either. RCC gets some, but not near
as much as you may expect. RMB (rec.music.beatles) also gets their share.
Most of the spam and other trash is actually cross-posted from political and
hate newsgroups. From what I can determine from a casual search, the active
newsgroups are the ones that get spammed. How much spam to you find on groups
that have little to no activity?

Well, we're really off-topic, but that's how I see it.

Maybe these ISP's should designate a team to filter out these spams
before or after the fact. What heading does that fall under? Freedom of
speech? I don't think our founding fathers had foresight of this
internet. Nor did they have a plan for crackheads with the right to bare
arms. Something has to change.

Bill Gates didn't think this through enough before he cashed in. This is
getting out of control.

Can we shoot them?
