Default Da Vinci Code - Verifying 1st Edition.

Does anybody knwo how to tell if the Da Vinci Code you have got is A True
1st Edition??

Does It just have to say :

April 2003

First Edition

10987654321

?

Does it matter if there is a price on the dust jacket or not (and i'm not
referring to the jacket being clipped)?

Thanks for any help on the subject.

The book club copies I've seen all have the copyright page as you've
described. I'm sure there are other points for a trade edition, but I don't
know what they are.

BUT--the absence of a price on the DJ shows conclusively--there is no
question--that this is a BCE.

What does BCE mean Book Club Edition? What does this mean?
Not as good as the other copies? Not worth as much?

The book I have says Doubleday and does not mention book club.

Is this a true first edition?

Thanks for the help.

No, it isn't a first edition. It's a book club copy, which typically have
no value beyond a few dollars. There's a world of difference between a
first edition and a book club copy of any book, and The Da Vinci Code is
going to very likely have not very much value in any edition other than the
first edition, first printing.

I suggest you do a google search of this newsgroup for earlier discussions
regarding book club copies. Also, the FAQ for this group has a wealth of
information for the book collector/enthusiast/addict/masochist.
