French Polynesia has just released a stamp to promote the island's business in
growing vanilla. The stamp, if I read the press release correctly, smalls like
vanilla.

Obviously, a blatant copy of Kramer's idea for an aftershave fragrance
in an similar dated serial of "Seinfeld" (Smells of the sea)
I remember it well, as that serial influenced my change of underwear
from satin designer boxers and neon thongs, to the much vaunted white cotton
Bond's briefs.

If anyone knows of a spell checker for newsgroups, let me know. A grammar
checker might help, too.

Never mind. I knew you meant "smiles like vanilla".

I currently use Outlook Express (yes, from Microsoft Co.) and it does spell
checking as well for e-mails as for news postings. Unfortunately it cannot
improve my English writing but this isn't its fault.

Your English is far better than anything I could possible do in

another
language. It's no advantage to be in a country where the school

system thinks
all other languages are "foreign" and to be avoided.

Since you have stripped all vestiges of context, I will assume that
you are addressing me. If so, thanks for the compliment.

One reason for this could be that several spoken languages are less needed
in a huge country. I can easily imagine that in the interior of a circle
having a radius of let's say 1000Km in USA the main spoken language is
English, but here in Europe the situation is totally different. For example,
for my location there are two official languages in a circle of already 3Km,
and 4 national languages in a circle of about 150Km (and I'm not counting
the citizens of other countries, about 20% of the population).
