Default a run on console stereos ??

Some of the older pre-sixties stuff I could see. The cases
were often of nice wood with nice finish. Especially something in danish
modern. But the innards would be pretty lo-fi. By the time the systems in
most consoles were becoming merely adequate sound-wise, the cases were
particle board with wood simulated mactac coverings.

These had heavy real wood cabinets. Very nice looking. One was tube
amped, with a combo push-pull and single ended amp setup inside. The
PP amp drove a huge center channel speaker. The SE section drove the
left/right stereo channels. A rare bird. That was a Motorola.

The other was that nice Zenith I got from the original owner. Solid
state but someone in your neck of the woods made a 9 hour round trip to
get it, in a minivan. Took it back to Canada.

See how long it took him to come up with this story? He's slipping.

My wife sells antiques as part of a co-op antique
warehouse. I do not think they have much call for the 60s stuff unless it is
that space agey, chrome stuff. Anything in blonde Danish modern is good as
well. Also portable turntables are showing some strength. I have flogged a
few 8 track portables at her place for about what they go for on E-bay.

I've sold or parted out about 6 of these consoles so far.

can't figure out why he gets sick and nothing burns when he throws
Formica into his filthy fireplace!

Burn some more old pressboard furniture, **** stain...those toxic
fumes may kill you off in short order...one can only hope.

As you know, the key to selling used stuff is to be ahead of
the rest and mine people's sense of nostalgia. Before others realize the
trend and flood the market. The consoles have certainly been gone long
enough to evoke a sense of some bygone day. Also kitschy enough to fill that
oddball need. They just take up so much living space which is a knock
against them both in using up retail floor space and the small apartments of
the youth market looking to find some offbeat item.
