Talk
about religious discrimination!

God tells the Israelites to make slaves out of their neighbors and their
families. The "heathens" and "strangers" are to be their possessions
forever. Leviticus 25:44-46

Religion is the root of all evil. Millions have died because of it. It

is time for humans to learn to behave in a civilized manner because that the
right way, not because some religion says it is.

God describes the torments that he has planned for those who displease him,
but he reserves the worst for the little children. He says "ye shall sow
your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it," "I will send wild beasts
among you, which shall rob you of your children," and "ye shall eat the
flesh of your sons and daughters." Leviticus 26:16-39

You are speaking with someone who takes the Bible literally.

You're kidding right? The bible says the earth is flat.

Where does it say that?

James

There's lots of possible references, but Matthew 4:8 is probably one of
the less ambiguous here.

Good catch! During the early era of Pangaea, when the oceans were much
higher and the landmass much smaller due to Global Warming, that would have
been possible.

James

Here the author of Daniel writes of a dream of Nebuchadnezzar where a tree
grows at the "center" of the earth. Assuming that the tree grew on the
surface, this is most certainly the center of a flat earth as a spherical
earth would have no center on it's surface. Also notice that the tree grew
so tall it's top reached heaven and was visible to the "ends of the
earth".
So these verses indicate that Nebuchadnezzar and the author of Daniel
pictured a flat earth as everyone else did in their time.

(Daniel 4:10-11) Upon my bed this is what I saw; there was a tree at the
center of the earth, and its height was great. The tree grew great and
strong, its top reached to heaven, and it was visible to the ends of the
whole earth.

It clearly says in many places in the bible that God created the earth as
a
flat disk sitting on two pillars. Also that God created two levels of
water.....the oceans below and the oceans above. That's how they explain
rain, since they had no knowledge of how evaporation works. I could post
all of them, but this post would be the length of a book.

Dreams are not reality. Daniel is reporting what someone told him without
making a statement as to its significance or veracity. We do not learn in
these verses what either Nabucco or Daniel might have known about earth
science. Your claim that "everyone" believed in a flat earth at that time
requires documentation that I daresay you will not be able to provide. I am
forced to observe that your argument is nothing more than a conclusion in
desperate search of supporting evidence. I think we're going to have to
agree to disagree here, Arnold, as we are dealing with a huge difference of
interpretation.

I've always taken a different approach to this one.

This are the verses where Satan tempts Jesus:

Matthew 4:8-10 (KJV)

"Again, the devil taketh him up an exceeding high mountian, and sheweth him
all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him,
All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Then Jesus saith unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou
shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thout serve."

If you believe the world is flat and that your region is the only one that
exists, you might fall for that. But if you know the earth is a globe and
that there are people living on the opposite of said body, you'll know that
no matter how high the mountain you're not going to see all the kingdoms of
the world. Not to mention how ludicrous it would be that Satan (a created
being) would offer Jesus mere transitory, earthly riches...when Jesus, as
part of the trinity (IOW God) created all of it in the first place by merely
speaking it into existance. That's like a parmecium in the lab offering me
dominion of all the petri dishes my eye can see. As a parable to teach that
you should only worship God, okay...weak, but okay. Presented as an actual
event, it's silly.

While it is certainly true that early man had domesticated the dinosaur, a
tree on a hilltop would afford a better vantage point.
