No, but if you even know what octal is you must be at least 40 hex.

Not so sure about that, I'm 0101000, well shy of 41 (hex).

The
only system I ever used octal with was the old PDP-8, but that's an
entirely different newsgroup.

Got one of those, or rather, parts of it. Core memory is a beautiful
thing.

It is time for my favorite core memory story. One day at work I was
printing a long and complex report on continuous forms on an IBM 1130.
But I was too tired to stay any later. I just hit the Program Stop
button, wrote down the IP register, powered down and went home.

Next day I powered everything up, set the IP register through the
console binary toggle switches, and hit Start. Printing resumed
immediately, on the exact line where I had stopped, without missing a
character or spoiling the page.

You can't do *that* any more.

Oh yeah: 54.

Soon to be 65. Ah for the good old days when a St. Gaudens was only $50.

Average so far:

50.348

This assumes that we omit Billy (since he supplied an estimate of
another group, but did not mention his own age) and assumes that we
include Jim Higgins because he really is 39 and not merely imitating
Jack Benny.

Naturally, if the assumptions are wrong ...

that you asked, but what the hey).

I know down to the day how old he is. But I will not share his secret.

I made about 15 Heathkits. Still use a tuner. Still have some of the ham
gear I made. Good company. Too bad todays kids can not build something
from a kit. Got me interested in electronics.I did not build ant
Heathkit coins though!
