Well, Jos, in 1991/2 there was a shortage of real stamps in all the Former-USSR countries and so there were many provisionals, especially in Ukraine - similar to the 1920s. Some of these were overprints on USSR stamps, some were photocopies, some were rubber-stamped onto white or brown gummed paper. Some people produced 'stamps' in designs like these, and *some* were sent through the post. But as it was easy to get letters sent through the post, or at least postmarked and handed back, or sent in bulk to Latvia, Belarus etc, it is difficult to know which ones are genuine and which ones are not. I have seen the fish, and the centre set in your picture, but not the Crimea ones. (Though I have seen many others from Crimea). I do not think that any of these was ever authorised for postal use by the appropriate ministry. -- Ian Billings Norvic Philatelics Website: http://www.norvic-philatelics.co.uk Online sto http://www.norphil.co.uk/catalog |
