South Australia cancellation question

Anyone's guess

I think it too early for a pen cancel, and being a cancellation is evident,
I would have a guess it is a pen scribble to indicate it was on a parcel or
letter that was registered.
The clerks sometimes if out of red or blue crayons, would scribble the cross
in ink.
