20th anniversary 3 piece gold set
Sell? $2K in 6 weeks or so, nothing to sneeze at Hold? With so many sets being graded, will the sets become scarce? Grade? I have never had anything graded. The ANA show is in Charlotte NC in 4 months, is that the best time to have it done? I live in Charlotte. They do grading at shows right? Seems worth a few bucks to know the quality, my eye is not that keen. If the grade is less than what would add big value, I can put them back in the capsules right? I would only grade to try to sell for a better price. I am really just a small collector of 20th century coins, I have gotten off track for my true interest. maxthelab |

What would really drive my decision would be intent - What are you trying to do in buying the set? Make money, or did you want to collect the set? Were I in your shoes (i am not) I'd just unload the set and use the money to buy early u.s. gold coins or something else with a longer track record of holding collector value in addition to the melt value. With 2K you'd be well along on a U.S. Gold type set, assuming common dates and some grade flexibility. A few well-placed ancient gold purchases would be wise, assuming you knew enough about the coins (i don't...yet.). To reveal my bias: I saw the sets on Shop At Home TV, and thought they were ugly. I'd pay melt for them. --- Fjord wrote: 20th anniversary 3 piece gold set Sell? $2K in 6 weeks or so, nothing to sneeze at Hold? With so many sets being graded, will the sets become scarce? Grade?
