I repeat here part of my RCSD post of 02 June 2002....
==================================================

....
The current (slightly tweaked for simplicity by me)
exchange rate is:

1 Euro = 16 scudi = 192 Tari = 3840 Grani

Thus:

* 1 Scudo = 6.25 Euro Cents =
* 1 Taro *= 0.52 Euro Cents

* * *Those are some pretty divergent numbers - 1 Scudo might be worth 6
Eurocents or it might be 25 Eurocents ...
* * *And if you believe this site, with 5 Scudi = 4 grams of 90% pure
gold, that works out to 1 Scudo = roughly US $20. *I'm guessing there
are more than a couple of different Scudi out there.

http://www.economy-point.org/s/scudo-coin.html

* * *Whatever - I'll go with what Sassone printed in their catalogue.

* * *Ryan

Ryan: *You cannot set an exchange rate today, based on he precious
metal content of a coin made over a hundred years ago or more.

For example, I would LOVE to buy US $20 Gold coins for $20 today.
However the price of gold is about 25 times higher now than then.

Please check Sassone for a note. *I have been told that they had one
that gave the equivalent pegged to the Italian Lira.
(now converted to Euros of course)

Blair

ADDENDUM

The rate previously used by Sassone was 2 Grani = 1 Lira.
Therefore the precise rate , at conversion, for a Euro would be :
2000 Lire (4000 Grani) = Euro 1.033

As per Sassone 2003, they stated 1 scudo = €0.2487.
