Default non collector. interesting book

Hi there I don't usualy frequent this newsgroup but I thought this
newsgroup could shed some light on some books I came across

The books in question are special commemorative editions of a famous
British author, there are fourteen titles in the collection of which
only 500 copies were made, so that's 500 sets of 14 books. now the part
where I need some assistance I have came across 4 books from the
collection however these are printer's copies or pre-production samples
and therefore the books are not numbered. A complete set of the books
(14) is valued at £2,500 so my question is this, are the books I have
worthless because they were never officially released ?

Not easy to say without the name of the author!

I'm guessing Trollope.

I was trying to keep it as vague as possible but obviously that's not an
option so ...

Roald Dahl "limited commemorative edition, Jonathan Cape London 1991"
(published on the seventy-fifth anniversary of his birth) special
binding, gold leaf. they are supposed to be numbered from 1 to 500 these
are NOT .. there are also no dust cover's.

Well the authors name was certainly critical. Actually you can probably
knock a =A3 1,000 of the price you quote for the original limited edition
set.

Im sure the books you have would be of interest to a Dahl collector but
as to value well the only way you would determine that would be to put
them on a well known auction site or contact a Dahl specialist dealer
and see what they offer.

I would have thought something in the region of =A3 50 each but that is
merely a guesstimate.=20

Thanks for your reply and time as I've always said "something is only
worth what someone is willing to pay for it" even if they were worthless
I would probably enjoy reading them again.
