I've always heard that day of big sporting events were great days for
buyers and lousy days for sellers since so many are watching the game
and not surfing ebay. I've tried on many occasions to get some of
these great deals but I personally never seem to find them.

Not quite related, but similarly anecdotal, a few years ago, I was in Vega$
over Super Bowl Sunday.. I could give a squat about football, so I wasn't
watching the game, couldn't care less.. but every casino's sports book and
bar in town was jammed wall to wall with screaming watchers, bettors,
drunks, you name it.. probably hundreds of millions of dollars bet.. I was
in a small Strip casino playing Blackjack or something and decided to go
back to my hotel at the other end of The Strip because the yelling coming
from the bar behind me, which had TeeVees on, was so loud.. Now I don't know
if you've ever been on the Vega$ Strip on a weekend.. if so, you know what
the traffic is like.

This stretch of road is only a couple of miles but often can take over an
hour to drive because it's wall to wall bumper to bumper cars and bajillions
of peds at the crosswalks.. I went outside, it was late afternoon, eerily
quiet, got in my car, pulled out of the parking lot, and The Strip looked
like one of those post-Armageddon movies.. I mean there was almost NO ONE
driving or walking.. I hit every green light and drove pretty much the
entire length of The Strip in about five minutes..

A couple years ago I snapped up some tasty coin bargains on eBay from
sellers who had timed their auctions to end right around the stroke of
Midnight on New Years' Eve.. but you're right.. with all the automatic
sniping programs out there now, who knows anymore if any bargains will shout
out at you on Sunday..
