Canada George VI piedfort specimen?
I seem to recall that some specimen cents (and perhaps other
denominations) for Canada's George VI were struck on extra-thick planchets. I doesn't seem to mention this in either Haxby or Charlton. Any help? |

Any help? Look under trial pieces in Charlton numbers DC-19 to DC-23. It says they are "slightly thicker than normal" in brass and made at the Paris Mint. The matricies for the 1937 Canadian coinage were subcontracted to the Paris Mint because the Royal Mint had their hands full needing to get new coins ready for something like 26 countries after the abdication of Edward VIII. Peter. -- |
