Anybody know why this would qualify as "rare"?

"Bob Hairgrove" wrote in message ... http://tinyurl.com/5quyn -- Bob Hairgrove I would guess that "rare" is a relative term to some people. If this is the only one that he has seen, it must be rare. The other thing, as we all know, is that someone going through eBay without the requisite knowledge sees "rare" and has to have it. A great deal for them, right? |

Bob Hairgrove wrote: http://tinyurl.com/5quyn -- Bob Hairgrove This seller is one to stay clear of. Look at his other auctions. The 1901 Morgan is bid up to 294.00 which indicates to me that some shill bidding is going on. After all no mint mark in given. The picture is not that good and the xoin does not really look BU to me. The next item in a cent which questions if it is on a dime planchet. Notice the date is 1944 which makes you think that maybe it is on a zinc coated planchet used in 1943 which would be quite valuable. All the auctions are with bidders identities being hidden. I wonder why? David |

I wonder why? David I thought the cent was a 1964 D, but since the entire design fits on it, I don't see how it can be a dime planchet. My guess would be a science class experiment escapee. I seem to recall changing the color of a few coins as part of my science education. Alan, you might not want to read this part... Speaking of school experimentation on money, the richest kid in our class liked to show off. One of his favorite things to do was use an Oxy-Acetylene torch to melt nickles during shop class. I'm not sure how many he did, but it was kind of neat to watch the first one suddenly loose cohesion and turn into a molten puddle. - Andrew W Applegarth |

If a Churchill Crown can be described on ebay as "rare", and it
frequently has been, then anything is possible. Billy Bob Hairgrove wrote: http://tinyurl.com/5quyn -- Bob Hairgrove |
