McMurtry collectors (?)

Greetings all:

I picked up, at a library sale, an inscribed copy of Larry McMurtry's
"Some Can Whistle". The inscription looks interesting and I wonder if
any McMurtry collectors would recognize the association.

It appears to read (with a question mark following words I am not sure
of):

For Linda Berenson (?) /
With much gratitude
This odd branch (?)
signature.

Who is Linda and what is this odd (?)

I agree with the "book" part. Can't see the slash mark after the inscribee's
name as a question mark; it just looks like a slash mark to me. The
inscribee looks more like Broxson or more probably Bronson.

Thanks, RPN, appreciate the help. Wonder what he meant? Haven't seen
any similar inscriptions for the handful of books I checked on addall.
