Default The importance of Stamp Shops

I have only just joined the group and I am one of the few new Stamp Shops to open in a High Street location in recent times. I have written a couple of magazine articles on this topic but would love to hear collectors views and experiences as to accessing material to view.

Regards Thomas.

Thomas--welcome. It is nice to have new points of view. For those of us to whom "High Street" has no meaning, please explain the reference.

Are any of your magazine articles available on-line?

"high street" = main business street in town.
King's or Queen's English.

Could be interesting.

Very few such remaining in many middle and small areas of the US. Lack
of general collecting interest to blame. Not promote in scholls, as it
was along with history and geography.

Are you in the UK, New Zealand, or Pottstown, Pennsylvania? I found
stamp dealers on "High Street" in those three places with a Google search.

Catching up with the topic firstly yes it is that one. Sorry the term high street is used in the UK to describe a central shopping location. My shop is actually placed in a 1920's arcade at the centre of Letchworth garden city. I do agree to some degree that a general loss of interest in collecting generally has had an effect. However in the UK there is a general movement back towards more tradition pass times, hobbies. This appears to be a reaction to hectic lives people lead and a need to escape. The problem here now lies in the inaccessibility of materials and information. One of the most obvious effects may shop has had is to make the hobby public. As such I am generation new collectors young and old and re-invigorating those that stopped.
