Default Great Britain QV Square Cuts

I dont know why they are called this - but someone told me they are..I
have a few and I listed them on eBay.. anyone tell me more about
them.. I listed at $2 because I have no idea if they are worth
anything... Hope you have a look and if anyone knows why they are
called this.. or what they are I would be interetsed to hear.

If these are the 'embossed' issues of 1847-54, many of the stamps were
cut to the shape of the stamp's design, instead of being left as the original
square piece of the sheet usually supplied by the post office.

Cutting to shape dramatically reduces the value of these stamps, which
are now becoming quite rare in the original 'cut square' state! Those with
clear all-round margins are valued at a premium to the catalogue price too.
